Matthew attended Saginaw Valley State University where he played Varsity football and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He spent several years honing a successful career in public accounting before venturing out on his own and founding Valley Oak Financial. 

Under Matthew’s leadership and entrepreneurial direction, Valley Oak Financial has experienced exceptional growth. He attributes the firm’s success to value-based client service and in turn created a client driven sales team. Matthew’s style of conducting business and professional relationships has gained the attention and admiration of clients and business associates alike. He does not utilize a hard-nose sales approach. Rather he encourages his clients to incorporate their whole financial wellness team in the process and presents information without bias or jargon in an easy to understand format that adds to his clients’ bottom lines.

Matthew is originally from Houghton Lake, Michigan, but now resides in Portage, with his wife and children. Matthew is a member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals; Financial Planning Association; Southwest Michigan Professional Network; Business Networking International, Kalamazoo Sales Team Chapter; past member of Toastmasters International; American Institute of CPAs; Michigan Association of CPAs and is treasurer for the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra.
